What is a photovoltaic cable?

Photovoltaic cable is a special cable designed for photovoltaic power generation system, its main uses include connecting DC distribution box, DC photovoltaic modules, inverters and power transmission network. Photovoltaic cable has a variety of advantages, such as high temperature resistance, cold resistance, oil resistance, acid and alkali resistance, ultraviolet resistance, flame retardant and environmental protection, and has a long service life. In harsh environmental conditions, such as high temperature, ultraviolet radiation, coastal, desert or mountain, photovoltaic cables can still maintain good working condition.

Photovoltaic cable models and specifications are various, usually using twisted annealed tinned soft copper wire as conductor, its operating temperature can reach 120℃. The bending radius of the cable should be greater than 6 times the outer diameter of the cable. In addition, the insulation and jacket materials of photovoltaic cables are usually irradiated cross-linked halogen-free flame retardant polyolefin materials, which allows them to reduce the production of toxic and harmful gases in the event of a fire.

In practical applications, the selection of photovoltaic cables also needs to consider long-term investment objectives, including cable selection, quality and compatibility with connectors and junction boxes. High-quality photovoltaic cables can avoid making solar systems unprofitable due to high repair and maintenance costs
